iMakr 3D Printing Store Opens in New York City

Last night, iMakr cut the ribbon on its brand new 3D printing store in Central Manhattan, firmly establishing itself as a powerful 3D printing chain, with locations in London and, now, New York.

The grand opening, which began with a line that queued up before the doors were open, saw a number of industry players and members of the 3D printing community, as well as those just generally interested in what the technology is all about.  Michele Marchesan,  Chief Opportunity Officer of 3D Systems was present, with the company showing off their now famous 3D printed USA-themed guitar from Olaf Diegel (quite appropriate for the London-based store’s expansion to the United States). In addition, the event was attened by Sam Cervantes, CEO of Solidoodle; Brian Quan, managing director of Tier Time US; Josh Ellis, founder of MakerJuice; Erica Fingar, product manager at NinjaFlex; as well as representatives from Makerbot and Ultimaker.  The event was kicked off with a speech from the founder of iMakr, Sylvain Preumont, with the rest of the night filled with all sorts of celebrating with drinks and 3D printing-related entertainment, like a live performance on a 3D printed violin. Here are a few photos of the event, courtesy of iMakr:

Located at 152 Allen Street on the Lower East Side, the brand new NYC iMakr Store will be a US copy of the company’s original store in Central London, with a variety of 3D printers, scanners, and 3D printing supplies, as well as 3D printer training and support.  Now that 3D printing brick-n-mortars have become an established part of the industry, we’ll have see what sort of competition awaits iMakr, the first chain of 3D printing shops to enter the market.
