Farsoon delivers largest polymer 3D printer order of 2020 to Chuanglian 3D

SLS and SLM 3D printer manufacturer Farsoon has delivered its biggest polymer 3D printer order of 2020 to Chinese additive manufacturing service bureau Chuanglian 3D. 

Leveraging its newly-installed printers, comprising a CAMS HT1001P and three Flight 403P systems, Chuanglian will now be able to quickly produce large-format parts with a high level of detail. The new Farsoon machines join the firm’s existing portfolio of more than 100 additive systems, and reinforce Chuanglian’s position as the largest 3D printing service provider in North East China.

“With an industry foundation dating back to the early 1900s, Bohai Bay coastal area is the true birthplace of modern manufacturing in China. However, one of the mainstays that enables us to inherit and transform this legacy into the future, is technological innovation,” said Wang Xiaochen, General Manager of Chuanglian 3D.

“By sharing its in-depth knowledge of laser sintering, Farsoon has helped us to bring additive technology onto our production floor, accelerating our exploration of new markets and applications,” he added.

Farsoon’s CAMS and Flight 3D printing technologies 

With over 25 years worth of experience in additive manufacturing, Farsoon is an established manufacturer of metal and polymer 3D printers. The company’s machine portfolio consists of a range of open-platform systems, which permit users to access advanced operating parameters and use a variety of third party materials. 

Farsoon powers its latest machines using its proprietary Continuous Additive Manufacturing Solution (CAMS) and Flight technologies. The former is optimized for series production, and has recently been deployed in aerospace applications such as producing polymeric firing skirts for China’s Long March-5 carrier rocket. 

Farsoon’s Flight technology, meanwhile, was first introduced in 2019, and is often featured within its flagship systems. The advanced manufacturing process is designed to enhance the productivity of plastic laser sintering, and replaces standard CO₂ laser technology with powerful fiber lasers instead. According to Farsoon, the production method improves energy distribution to the material, and allows the powder to be sintered in a shorter amount of time.

Working with a number of industry partners, Farsoon has sought to find new applications for its proprietary 3D printing technique over the last year. Sportswear brand Peak Sports has used Farsoon’s systems to 3D print midsoles for its ‘Next’ shoe line, while QYSEA fabricated protective covers for its FIFiSH V6 underwater ROV. 

Following the launch of its latest flight-enabled printer, the Flight 252P at TCT Asia 2020, Farsoon is now broadening its base of service bureau clients. Having signed a series of deals with global 3D printing providers to this end, the company is also seeking new partners to beta test its upcoming systems.

Farsoon’s growing industrial customer base

Despite the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic on customer demand within the broader 3D printing industry, Farsoon has continued to expand on its customer base. Chuanglin 3D’s order of four new printers may be Farsoon’s biggest order of 2020 so far, but it’s also the latest in a series of agreements that the company has struck with industrial manufacturers. 

In the firm’s most recent deal, Farsoon has successfully installed a new HT1001P system for new customer and service provider Chuanglin. The company offers a variety of professional 3D printing, machine processing, design, customization and scanning services. Utilizing its new CAMS system, and its large 1m x 50cm x 50cm build volume, the firm will now be able to engage in the series production of large-format parts.

Farsoon’s Flight 403P meanwhile, is designed to rapidly manufacture components with detailed resolutions, while using printing materials that are custom-made for designated applications. As a result, Chuanglian’s three freshly-installed 403P 3D printers should allow it to better meet its clients’ needs in the medical, aerospace, electronics, automobile and molds and tooling industries.

According to Xiaochen, Chuanglin has been impressed by the performance of Farsoon’s machines so far, and it is keen to establish a lasting collaboration moving forwards. 

“With innovative solutions, top-tier quality products, excellent cost-performance and first-class customer service, Farsoon has convinced us that entering into a long-term partnership will realize the additive business into manufacturing reality,” he said. 

Farsoon’s deal with Chuanglian follows a series of agreements signed by the company in November 2019 with German service bureaus Modellbau Kurz and FKM Sintertechnik. As part of the deals, the additive solutions providers successfully beta tested Farsoon’s CAMS HT1001P systems, and they are now putting them into full commercial operation. 

Deploying its “Open for Industry” philosophy, Farsoon openly communicated the testing results to the firms, allowing them to optimize the systems’ configurations for maximum profitability. Elsewhere, BMW’s newly-launched AM Technology campus also features a HT1001P 3D printer, which it’s using to power its automotive smart factory. The system is being leveraged to fabricate large-sized parts on the production floor. 

Farsoon remains eager to work with new industrial partners, and is reaching out to potential clients to explore the productivity, cost-performance and added-value advantages of 3D printing.
