Design & Crash A 3D-Printed Car!

Attendees of the Industrial Designers Society of America’s international conference, August 21-24, Chicago, are being invited to design a 3D-printed car! The top 10 designs will be selected in advance of the event, cars will be then judged on a range of fun criteria, including best flight and most spectacular crash! There’s no entry fee, and those who cannot attend are also allowed to join in…

‘Design a 3D-printed car to launch down a ski-slope track at the conference! Entering couldn’t be easier:

1) Design the most awesome car (using our supplied wheels and axle)
2) Send the STEP file to Zach Kaplan of Inventables by Aug 12: [email protected]

We will select the 10 best designs before the conference based on two criteria:
-Using unique attributes of 3D printing
-Aesthetics: beauty / fun / thematic

These 10 designs will be 3D printed and ready for launch on Saturday, Aug. 24 at the conference. They will then ride down a ski-jump track and fly! The winners win a 3D printer each!

The three Up Mini 3D printers will be awarded to the winner of each of the three categories:
-Best flight (distance / style)
-Most spectacular crash
-Best aesthetics

The seven runners-up will receive a USD$100 gift card to use on Inventables.com.’
