DeltaTrix 3D Printer Goes Live on Kickstarter

At the end of last year, we relayed information about Richard Tegelbeckers’s delta-style, open source, 3D printer.  Without any experience of building such a thing, Richard constructed a somewhat large machine with panels made from CNC’d plywood, some 3D-printed parts, and LCD screen with SD card reader, and a bunch of vitamins he bought online. The whole thing was detailed on Instructables, but Richard hinted that he would launch the DeltaTrix 3D Printer on Kickstarter. The day has finally come for you to purchase the DeltaTrix through the crowdfunding site with a price tag of about £648 or $1072.

While I’m writing this, there are still slots open to get the early bird special on the machine. If you happen to miss the special though, you can still purchase the DeltaTrix in kit form with either plain plywood panelling or special black Valchromat, which is a coloured wood engineered by Investwood.  If the Kickstarter happens to blow past its goal of £10,000, though, all black editions will be upgraded to the colour of your choice. All of the current options for buying the DeltaTrix are in kit form, but after the campaign is complete and the rewards are shipped, the team behind the newly formed Tegelbeckers Ltd. will sell fully assembled units.  Check out the Kickstarter video and see the DeltaTrix in action:
