Beauty the Bald Eagle’s 3D Printed Beak

3D printing technology provided the solution for Beauty the Bald Eagle, who was shot in the face by poachers and lost her beak. Beauty survived the incident with the help of Birds of Prey Northwest animal rescue centre, but without an upper beak she wouldn’t have had much chance to survive on her own.

Raptor specialist Jane Cantwell and mechanical engineer Nate Calvin Beauty decided to design a prosthetic beak that was produced using 3D printing technology. We think this is a touching story and  a great showcase for how 3D printing can help overcome physical disabilities — for anyone!
