Ares All-In-One Hybrid 3D Printer Blows Past $8K Goal on Indiegogo!

It lasers! It cuts! It prints! Presenting the new Ares All-In-One 3D Printer from EasyArts! It just blew past its goal on Indiegogo, and I’ll tell you whyL  Guess how much a modular 3D printer that becomes a CNC mill, a laser engraver, and a 3D scanner costs? You guessed too high! This fantastic machine, which uses open source firmware (Marlin) and software, and is made in China, is only $399! That’s right, $399!

Okay enough with the QVC schtick, this looks like a good campaign to launch a very cool machine, and it blew past its $8,000 goal on Indiegogo.  At the time of this writing, it was up to $31, 590.   You’ve probably come across a few other modular Delta machines, but, in all likelihood, they probably cost a lot more than the Ares.

Let’s go over some of the features:

  1. The modular design makes it easy to switch tool heads, and allows the user to even create and use their own.
  2. The construction is solid all around.  90% of the load bearing parts are CNC machined metal, and the driver belts are made from steel wire and polyurethane, which really puts a cap on deformation.
  3. Since it uses Raspberry Pi, it features Wi-Fi.   This means that you can  scan, print, and operate the machine from any mobile device and keep an eye on your creation while it’s happening.
  4. It 3D scans, 3D prints, laser engraves, CNC mills and is open source, so you can create and share modifications with the Maker community.

Not to mention that the team seems pretty professional and the campaign well thought out.  From the Indiegogo page: “This is a professional team, consisting of three PhD researchers majored in 3D printing and lots of experienced engineers, skilled in either electrical & electronic, mechanical, product engineering, computing technology , or marketing management. It is also a team of high efficiency, owing to the support of the business incubator of Wuhan ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute) of Geo-Resources and Environment Co., Ltd.”
