3D Systems launches upgraded Geomagic and 3DXpert software before SOLIDWORKS World 2019

Days before SOLIDWORKS World 2019, 3D Systems, has announced new versions of its CAD software solutions Geomagic and 3DXpert.

3D Printing Industry will be heading to Texas for the annual SOLIDWORKS conference, so if you’d like to meet then please get in contact.

Both software solutions are exclusive to Dassault SystèmesSOLIDWORKS user community, enabling them to streamline 3D scan data workflows and part designs for plastic and metal additive manufacturing.

“With the new releases, 3D Systems is reinforcing our commitment to the SOLIDWORKS community to streamline digital product design as well as making additive manufacturing an integral part of the workflow – increasing efficiencies and lowering total cost of operation,” said said Radhika Krishnan, senior vice president, general manager, software, 3D Systems.

“The power of these software solutions to transform business is what delivers true competitive advantage.”

Geomagic for SOLIDWORKS 2019

In 2013, 3D Systems acquired the Geomagic reverse engineering software and subsequently transformed it into a scan-to SOLIDWORKS solution for CAE and additive manufacturing.

Published by Dassault Systèmes, SOLIDWORKS software enables advanced CAD product development. The 27th edition of the software, SOLIDWORKS 2019, was released last year.

The newest version of Geomagic for SOLIDWORKS allows users to scan with the latest devices; capture color data of scanned objects and import it into SOLIDWORKS, all while working in a more intuitive user interface and user experience environment.

Furthermore, new command tools for Probe Points, Extract Reference Points, and Edit Scans have been integrated to provide users with more streamlined workflows in their modeling process. In addition, Geomagic for SOLIDWORKS 2019 has been awarded SOLIDWORKS’ Gold Product Certification which signifies the highest level of integration.

3DXpert for SOLIDWORKS

3DXpert is a complementary 3D printing preparation software; It was upgraded in 2018 to include a new range of tools to create a direct path from SOLIDWORKS designs to both metal and plastic additive manufacturing.

Currently, the newest version of 3DXpert for SOLIDWORKS further enables users to design more shapes as a result of new lattice types and extensive control over lattice structures. Also, this software is said to offer a shortened time to market for products; this is enabled by a one-click function which brings SOLIDWORKS CAD data to 3DXpert where it is read back to SOLIDWORKS’ optimized and ready for print data.

Moreover, 3DXpert for SOLIDWORKS includes new 2D/3D nesting tools, a joint-cut tool and enhanced part orientation and analysis tools,  in order for users to “design with additive manufacturing in mind”.

The latest version of 3DXpert for SOLIDWORKS is currently available, however, Geomagic for SOLIDWORKS will be available in March 2019.

SOLIDWORKS World 2019 attendees can view the new software solutions in booth #422 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, Dallas, Texas, from February 10 – 13.
