Bright Minds of Students Made Brighter with 3D Printing at TCT Show 2014

In what has now become a tradition for the TCT Show + Personalize, TCT Bright Minds UK will be returning to the UK-based 3D printing show.  A glass-walled classroom will again be set up in the middle of the show floor, where young students will have an opportunity to learn about 3D printing first-hand. This year, the program will be amped up in many regards so as to spread the 3D printing education over a larger audience with an even broader curriculum.

This year, however, not only will students get hands-on experience with 3DS’ Cube 3D printers, but they’ll have access to 3D scanning technology, as well as a haptic based 3D mouse and the new iterations of the Cube and CubePro.

As you can imagine, executives from all of the aforementioned organizations have a lot of positive things to say about the TCT Bright Minds UK program and their partnerships. For instance, Duncan Wood, COO of Rapid News Communications Group, reflected, “The TCT Bright Minds UK programme came of age last year, with hundreds of excited participants getting a real hands-on experience of the technologies that TCT Show + Personalize specialises in. I can’t thank our partners enough for their contribution to the initiative and they have enabled us as a group to have a tangible impact on a wide number of students as evidenced by the feedback post-programme. We are delighted to be able to work together with both BCA and 3D Systems again and continue to inspire the next generation of designers and engineers.”

The Director of BCA, Jing Lu, added “3D printing is becoming an essential part of schools’ technology offering and we’re excited to work with partners who are as passionate about education as we are. We want to make sure pupils can gain the design and manufacturing skills of the future and we are delighted to announce that, as part of Bright Minds 2014, we will offer participating pupils a route to our industry-recognised 3D printing Awards and Certificates, helping students progress and capture new opportunities.”

The event, which will take place from September 30 to October 2 at the NEC in Birmingham, will feature two-hour long sessions. The program is meant for secondary school students in the UK, a prime age for convincing adolescents that education is, in fact, a very cool thing. Schools in the UK that would like to participate in the program should contact Jing Lu at [email protected].
