3D Printing Design Contest Promotes European MyEasy3D Service

To help kick off Staple’s 3D printing services in Europe, Staples and CGTrader have partnered to promote a 3D printing contest; the winner of which will receive 1000 Euros. There are specifications for the contest, as would be expected, and competitors’ submissions must be suitable for the MCor Iris printer. The plan is to showcase the 3D designs printed with Staples resources. Through the CGTrader site, the countdown ticks away, a nice window for those who enjoy working under an impending deadline. Underneath the timer is the link to upload the design.  An undisclosed number of entrants deemed noteworthy will be made available at Staples MyEasy3D store. There are no terms for that recognition; however, there are parameters for the contest embodied by a quick example below.

Staples 3D ModelAs stated before, the designs must be suitable for the MCor Iris printer and follow technical requirements. File formats must be followed and it is unacceptable to have structures thinner than 4mm or contain empty yet covered cavities unless they are conical. Other than the rules laid out, the contest encourages creativity and 3D design prowess.

The contest hopes to spread the news of Staples’ MyEasy3D printing service affording consumers the ability to print out their designs via the store. Both CGTrader and Staples offer prizes for winners submitted by October 21st. The first place winner receives the cash award and CGTrader t-shirt while the 2 runners-up will also receive a t-shirt and 6 and 3 month free Designer subscriptions for those placing 2nd and 3rd respectively. Aiming to familiarize its customer base with new technology and capabilities, contestants can also take adavantage of the opportunity to flex their 3D designs.
