The folks at cartridgesave.co.uk are due to launch their 3D Print Cup challenge on June 13th, giving fans of 3D printing and budding action figure designers not only a chance to win a Makerbot Replicator 2X in a “Top Trump” style battle-royal, but an opportunity to have their unique designs printed for free. Participants are to dream up their ultimate action hero, design it using 3D modelling software and assign it “Top Trump” style points in five core skill areas including strength, speed, agility and fighting skills. While each participant will have the opportunity to utilize these skills while vying for the title of “Top Trumper of the Evening” at the event’s wrap party on July 11th, a panel of judges will ultimately make four more distinctions among the entries:
▪ Best Character (overall winner and winner of the Makerbot)
▪ Best Team (as developed by groups between two to four)
▪ Best Individual (the “stand-alone star’s entry”)
▪ Best Student (best in the student category)
To enter the 3D Print Cup contestants must register, submit a 3D file and fill out their “Top Trumps” style by June 27, 2013.
