USA's Chuck Hull Nominated for European Inventor Award for 3D Printing

3D printing is receiving all of the recognition this year.  Just last week, Scott Crump, co-inventor of the fused deposition modeling seen in MakerBot 3D printers, was inducted into the Minnesota Inventors Hall of Fame.  Before that, Chuck Hull, the inventor of stereolithography 3D printing and founder of 3D Systems, was honored with a place in the USA’s National Inventors Hall of Fame.  Thanks to Mr. Hull’s patents worldwide, the 3D printing pioneer now has the chance to receive global accolades for his work.3D Systems Chuck Hull Nominated for European Inventor Award for 3D Printing

Chuck Hull has been announced as a finalist by the European Patent Office (EPO) in its 2014 European Inventor Award. With 76 US patents, 18 European patents, and 14 Japanese patents, Mr. Hull has changed the world with his inventions.  For that reason, the American citizen is being recognized in the Non-European category of the European Inventor Awards as “an outstanding inventor working outside of Europe who has been granted a European patent.”

The EPO describes the 3DS founder as an important part of history, “With his recent induction into the National Inventor’s Hall of Fame in the US, Hull, working actively as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of 3D Systems, has joined the ranks of figures such as Henry Ford and Steve Jobs. In other words: people who have made a lasting impact on humanity.” Further underscoring his accomplishments, the EPO has put together the great video below:

Endearingly 3D Systems says of Chuck, in a blogpost on the topic, “He is a tremendously worthy candidate and the entire team at 3D Systems is very proud of him!” If you agree, why not tell the EPO? Though the winner of the Non-European category is decided by the EPO, your voice will be heard for the category of Most Popular.  Vote for Chuck at the EPO website!
