Shenzhen-based 3D printer manufacturer Uprise 3D recently launched its latest 3D printer, the UPS-250.
Intended as a successor to the company’s previously released desktop 3D printer range, the system comes equipped with an independent dual extrusion (IDEX) nozzle setup. The machine can 3D print both metals and ceramics simultaneously, and is suitable for applications such as functional prototyping and end-use tooling components.
With the launch, Uprise 3D has enabled multi-material parts with feedstock such 316L stainless steel, 17-4PH stainless steel, copper, zironium oxide, and more.
Uprise 3D writes, “UPS-250 has the advantage of simple operation, high accuracy, excellent quality and a great cost-performance ratio. It is applicable for scientific research, rapid prototyping, and industrial manufacturing in sectors such as aerospace, military and national defense, biomedical, automotive, and mold manufacturing.”
Powder Extrusion Printing with Uprise 3D
Uprise 3D was founded back in 2017 by graduates of Central South University’s Powder Metallurgy Research Institute.
The company’s proprietary material extrusion technology, Powder Extrusion Printing (PEP), works by depositing molten metal and ceramic pellets to form complex 3D parts. The printed green parts then go through a debinding process to remove the polymer binders, leaving a set of brown parts. Finally, these brown parts are sintered to achieve the final components, which have improved density and strength.
Holding more than 30 patents for its 3D printing technology, the firm offers now offers several 3D printers with metal and ceramic extrusion capabilities. This includes the desktop UPS240S and the dual-nozzle UPS240D.
The latest addition to the Uprise 3D range is the UPS-250, featuring an IDEX system and a build volume measuring 250 x 250 x 250mm. With print speeds of up to 100mm/s, the machine can 3D print various combinations of metals and ceramics for multi-material part production. This includes metal-metal, metal-ceramic, ceramic-ceramic, and other polymer-based support materials.
Depending on the application, its also possible to substitute out the default 0.4mm nozzle of the printer for another between 0.3mm and 0.8mm. Additionally, the UPS-250 comes with an automated pellet feed system, automatic nozzle cleaning functionality, a heated build chamber, and a removable build plate.
The extensive material compatibility of the printer is really where it shines, with options for stainless steel, copper, aluminum, titanium, tungsten, zirconia, alumina, and various silicon-based ceramics.
