Splin3 Introduces Lines of Unique & Seasonal 3DP Filament Colours

Think of Splin3 in terms of fashion. The spring collection at a clothing store will sell you your light coats, long-sleeve shirts and pants.  Then, when summer comes around, you’ve got your shorts, tank tops and swimsuits. Fall has its darker colour palette, while winter prepares to bundle you up for cold weather. Surprisingly enough, Splin3 is trying to do the same thing with 1.75 mm PLA 3D printer filament.

When the product designers behind Splin3 grew frustrated with the limited range of colors available from most filament suppliers, they decided to create their own, trying to tailor a close Pantone callout, the standard form of color reference in the field of design.  At the same time, they wanted to provide smaller quantities so that customers wouldn’t be forced to purchase huge rolls of their unique hues.  By providing smaller samples of specific colors, Splin3 sells a whole crayon box of PLA for very specific needs.

At the moment, Spline3 has three filament lines for sale: the Essentials, the Translucents and Splin3 Originals. You may not have realized it, but the essential filament colours for your 3D printer are: black, seafoam, hot pink, white, yellow, leaf green, machine grey, orange tang and red. The translucents are a range of, well, translucent filaments that include some awesome looking neon green and neon yellow colours. Finally, the Splin3 Originals line is made up of some unique, less-often used colours like olive, navy, pale yellow and “60’s orange” that will serve either a particular project or a particular designer.

Designers with specific colour needs may find Splin3 to be a vital source in filling the gaps in their PLA palette.  Splin3 Line 1.75 mm PLAs are available in ¼ kg spools — that will rotate according to the season — for $14.99. I’m a pretty bad designer, I’ll admit, but, when I print, I love to print with fun, bright colours. Then, I get bored and want to buy some more! So, these ¼ kg spools of neon green and 60’s orange are right up my alley. I’m pretty excited to see what colours they’ll introduce next season!
