Nottingham’s 2013 International Conference on Additive Manufacturing & 3D Printing is Just Around the Corner

The 2013 International conference on Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing, hosted by Nottingham University and organised by Econolyst, will take place on 9th & 10th July at the Nottingham Belfry Hotel, UK. For many years, this has been one of the cornerstone events on the 3D printing calendar and draws speakers and delegates from all around the world due to its impressive content and speaker line-up. As in previous years, the speakers for the 2013 edition have been carefully selected to bring together some of the most cutting-edge and thought provoking research and applications taking place in the world of AM/3DP today.

In the global business session there will be presentations from IBM consulting describing their views on the convergence of 3D printing with robotics and open source electronics. From the small business world, delegates will hear how new business start-ups are using social networking and crowd sourcing to fund the development of new business models. Delegates will also hear how technologies such as laser scanning and 3D photogrammetry are being integrated into the world of consumer products, along with web based 3D printing portals and distributed manufacturing.

The conference will include presentations from some of the world leading researchers investigating the development of next generation multi-functional AM solutions, including MIT, Xaar & Nottingham University. In this session researchers will be discussing 3D, 4D and X-dimensions printing – not just printing products but printing systems.

Other presentation will be delivered by organisations such as the US Office of Naval Research and MalibuIQ.

In addition to formal presentations, the conference format will also encourage, promote and where possible facilitate networking with vendors, users and other interested parties. Furthermore, the two-day conference will be followed by ISO & ASTM events running until the 12th July, which are open to all delegates.
