ROBOZE unveils new U.S. HQ

Starting this week with facilities, Italian 3D printer manufacturer ROBOZE has unveiled its new headquarters in Houston, Texas. The company plans to hire more than 100 local engineers over the next two years to work at the facility, which is designed to shore up its domestic production, and help mitigate against future supply chain challenges.

ROBOZE’s expanded capabilities should also enable it to better meet the needs of U.S clients such as GE, Leonardo, and the U.S. Army, as well as those in oil, gas and manufacturing. Initially, the firm plans to appoint 30 employees and build out its engineering, marketing and sales teams, before ramping this up to 70 by 2022.

“Houston ranks as one of the top U.S. cities for manufacturing plants and industrial employment, and is home to exciting scientific initiatives,” said Alessio Lorusso, CEO and Founder of ROBOZE. “We are delighted to open up new HQ in Houston, and bolster our team with the best and brightest engineers and technical workers.”

Titomic lines up UAE factory

Australian metal 3D printer manufacturer Titomic has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with venture capitalists Tawazun, to assess the prospect of setting up a joint facility in the UAE. The potential plant would feature a suite of Titomic metal 3D printers, and be geared towards producing large-format parts for regional clients in the aerospace, defence oil, gas and mining industries.

Tawazun’s investment arm, the Strategic Development Fund (SDF), aims to drive economic growth within the UAE, and the factory would provide the Arab state with new industrial-scale 3D printing capabilities. For Titomic, the proposed Middle Eastern site could give it access to a new line of distribution for its products, and a wealth of new client opportunities.

ARBURG appoints new subsidiary MD

3D printer and injection molding systems manufacturer ARBURG has appointed Stefan Buchner as the new Managing Director of its recently-acquired AMKmotion subsidiary. Having worked in the fields of controller technology, drive systems and automation, Buschner should be an ideal fit for the engineering-focused firm.

Since buying AMKmotion in January, ARBURG’s Hehl and Keinath family owners have focused on securing its existing client relationships, while identifying potential opportunities. With Buchner now on board, AMK motion is also better positioned to meet the needs of its parent firm, enabling it to manufacture all core components of its machines in-house, and providing it with end-to-end production capabilities.

Enable hires Director to boost growth

Metal 3D printing service provider Enable Manufacturing has hired James Reeves as a Non-Executive Director. Despite the impact of COVID-19, Enable has managed to bring its ‘Additive Casting’ technology to market this year, and Reeves is being brought in to help the firm reach its initial revenue target of £15 million by 2026.

In his current role as Global Director of Polymer Sintering at voxeljet, Reeves’ remit is more  focused on technology R&D, but he also has a strong commercial background, making him uniquely-suited to the role. For instance, Reeves possesses both leadership and engineering experience from his time working in the automotive, aerospace and electronics sectors, while holding a Diploma in Directorship from IoD as well.

“I have closely watched the developments in the AM market over the past years, especially when it comes to the manufacturing of metal parts,” said Reeves. “I strongly believe that Enable’s Additive Casting technology will play a major role in the production of metal parts, as it ensures quality and scalability whilst keeping production costs low.”

Azul appoints veteran CEO

Illinois-based 3D printer manufacturer Azul 3D has announced the appointment of industry veteran Paul Decker as its new CEO. Decker brings over 20 years’ experience of digital industrial knowledge to the role, and during his time as boss of ABP Induction and Cobotics, he oversaw the introduction of interactive robotics within automobile assembly.

Under Decker’s leadership, ABP also underwent a mass expansion, doubling its sales and growing its operations from five countries into nine, before its acquisition by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Elsewhere, Decker holds an MBA from Northwestern University, a BSME from the University of Michigan, and two different patents for ‘intelligent assist devices,’ showing his continued passion for technology innovation.

“I am delighted to join Azul and work with its uniquely-qualified team and innovative technology,” said Decker. “Azul is poised to transform the industry, moving 3D printing from small-part production and prototypes into production of mainstream products. I am excited to be part of this important transition to Industry 4.0.”

Markforged hires new SVP

Finishing this week’s round-up with Markforged, the metal 3D printer manufacturer has appointed Ken Clayton as its Senior VP of Global Sales. In his new position, Clayton will report directly to the firm’s CEO, and be responsible for devising its sales strategy, while driving growth across its American, EMEA and APAC businesses.

Clayton brings substantial experience to the role, including 20 years as a leader within Dassault Systemes’ SOLIDWORKS team, in which he consistently delivered double-digit growth. More recently Clayton served as CEO of GoEngineer, where he established the firm as Stratasys’ number one North American reseller.

“The manufacturing supply chain has never been more important, or more fragile, and Markforged’s Digital Forge is the right tool to make it more resilient,” said Clayton. “The need for this technology, coupled with Markforged’s own exciting corporate trajectory, made joining Markforged an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.”
