Metal 3D printing experience center inaugurated by Wipro in India

Wipro3D, the additive manufacturing arm of global information technology company Wipro, has launched a metal 3D printing experience center at its headquarters in Bengaluru, India.

The 12,000 square feet facility is the first of its kind in the area, and provides existing and potential customers of the technology with a test bed of the latest additive machines and supporting tools.

Metal 3D printing going global

The inauguration, according to Wipro Infrastructure Engineering CEO Pratik Kumar, is the first step in the company’s plan to “go global” with Wipro3D.

Since the branch was established in 2012, Wipro3D has gained many international partners, including additive process automation software developer Authentise and U.S. 3D printing consultancy firm Print Form.

Leading 3D printer provider EOS is also a strategic partner for Wipro3D, and helped the company launch India’s first functional, 3D printed into space.

Wipro3D first moved to its current purpose-built location in 2015. The new experience center is an extension of this facility.

Aerospace focus

In other recent news from Wipro3D, business unit leader Sanjeev Ramakrishnan shared details of the company’s plans to build a blockchain system to improve the safety of digital manufacturing. The model clearly notes an awareness of the global industrial market, including measures for anti-counterfeiting, aerospace certification, supply chain and additive manufacturing.

It is also worth noting that the Wipro3D center is recommended with AS9100 Rev D certification, the latest standardized quality management system for the aerospace industry.
