After Last Petal, Angelic Chamomile Decides, 3D Printing Loves Me

The Angelic Chamomile adds a bit of 3D printed charm and minimalist sensibility to the traditional flora fortune dalliance. For those unfamiliar with reading the heart and intentions of an affair while whimsically strolling through a verdant garden, one may pluck the petals of a chamomile in the Slavic tradition followed by “he (or she)  loves me” and “loves me not” until the final petal reveals fate’s truth. The 3D printed chamomile has the potential for as many petals as one wishes to print. As a special blend of fortune reading, a small note can be written on petals as a keepsake.

The device itself is a delicacy of engineering and sleek design. The petals rotate underneath a transparent disc and stop at an opening guided by magnetism. Inside the design is a brilliant little collection of a drum and gears that put the petals in motion with a light tap on top. The mechanical portion of the flower runs 8 x 8 x 6 inches. Instead of twirling the stem, one simply pushes on the top of the printed flower. Because of the drum and magnets that place a random petal under the opening in the disc, a bit of fate breaches the mechanism.

A chamomile like the Angelic Chamomile fits wonderfully on top of coffee tables or a little table for two in a hip bohemian studio. These two scenarios are fun settings, but the Angelic Chamomile would be a lovely fixture, a modern fortune flower, for any lovers of fate and whimsy.
