HouseholdHacker Teaches you how to Make a Watermelon Keg with a 3D Printed Tap

YouTube video channel HouseholdHacker has just released the tastiest hack ever and they even gave it a 3D printed twist.

As the hot summer wears on we could all use a nice refreshing drink, and thankfully HouseholdHacker is here to help up out with their Watermelon Keg instructional video. While you have the option to convert a valve from a water jug, the custom designed beverage spout can be 3D printed to create the perfect fit without any hassle.

The spout was 3D printed by the guys at Robo3D who created a 3D model of the dispenser and mapped out its functionality to ensure that it would work correctly. Then they 3D printed it on their Robo3D 3D printer out of what I hope was PLA since it is going to be used with a food product.

Then the HouseholdHacker guys took over, hollowed out a watermelon, jammed the spout into the empty watermelon and filled it with cold lemonade. The whole process is a little more involved than that, but not by much. Here’s the instructional video from their YouTube channel:

If you want to make your own watermelon keg you can download the 3D file for the tap from Thingiverse here. I’m assuming that you can source your own watermelon — and your own booze should lemonade not appeal. [Ed: Vodka works well with watermelon!]
