From the Editor

First I would like to wish all 3DPI readers a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

As ever, this time of year offers a time for reflection together with feelings of anticipation as we plan for the year ahead.

2012 was a monumental year for the 3D printing sector as it was the year it finally got into its stride at the beginning of what I am sure will be a long and evolutionary journey. 2012 was also the year that saw the launch of this website — back in August, and since then the 3DPI team has been busy putting in place the foundations for a global news site dedicated to 3D printing.

When it comes to 3D printing, nothing is beyond our remit — including news about the processes and the technologies, the views of industry insiders and users, through to the full spectrum of applications, from the personal to the most sophisticated industrial uses. They can all be found here, in one place.

As the Editor of the site, this foundation laying process has required me, personally, to revert to a more objective place, to ensure the content on 3DPI is both credible and valuable for readers. From the phenomenal response we have had in the few months since launch, it seems that we are getting it largely right.

With the first phase now in place, and a new year stretching out before us, we will continue to source the latest 3D printing news and case studies as well as inviting opinions and furnishing you with some of our own.

This is an open invitation for readers to comment on any of the articles individually or to drop me a line with ideas or comments in private about who / what you would like to see on the site in the coming year. Similarly, if you would like to contribute articles and/or opinions to the site yourself please do get in touch.

I am so looking forward to talking, debating and writing about 3D printing in the coming year with 3DPI readers — I thrive on it and it is only going to get bigger and better.

Very best wishes
Rachel
