Exnovo Takes Italian 3D Printed Designs to London’s Designjunction

3D printing is a disruptive force and one way this shows is by how companies throughout the world want to reach potential customers globally, taking local interpretations of 3D printing technologies to international audiences.

At the beginning of the week I wrote about Belgium based i.materialise participating at Florence’s Source Exhibition (with a team of Italian as well as international artists), now it’s Northern Italy based .exnovo’s turn to go to London and exhibit its 3D printed work at the Designjunction event on September 18th through the 21st.

Together with sister company .bijouets, .exnovo has been one of the pioneers in Italy, developing and producing design works using the selective laser sintering capabilities of its parent company, rapid prototyping experts HSL. It focuses on household items and especially geometrically complex lamps.

One if the most successful designs on its portal, which will be exhibited at London’s event, is Alessandro Zambelli’s Afillia line of lampshades, which we covered earlier this year. The lamps, which stand out for the combination of traditional handmade wood-working techniques for the lamp’s base with laser sintered components for perfect light diffusion, will be part of an artistic installation developed together with online art gallery MOS.
