Montreal-based lighting manufacturer Eureka, part of the Acuity Brands portfolio, has introduced the River Luminaire series, a collection of 13 decorative lighting fixtures. For the first time, Eureka has incorporated large-format additive manufacturing (LFAM) into its product lineup, partnering with Florida-based Haddy to realize shapes and textures that traditional manufacturing simply cannot achieve.
The collection spans six distinct form families, linear, square, oblong, ring, lagoon, and freeform, giving specifiers a wide palette to work with across different environments. Despite their variety, all thirteen fixtures share a common construction: a translucent polymer body produced through robotic LFAM processes. Rather than concealing the nature of that process, the design leans into it. The characteristic layering left by the printer becomes an aesthetic device, producing a nuanced interplay of light and shadow when the internal LED is activated.

Modularity extends the fixtures’ versatility further. Customers can opt for pendant mounting, suspended on aircraft cables for a floating, sculptural effect, or surface mounting, which softens the result into an ambient wash. Metal bracket finishes are also selectable, allowing the fixtures to integrate across hospitality, corporate, and civic interiors, from food courts and shared amenity areas to boardrooms and reception lobbies.
Haddy’s Microfactory at the Core
The manufacturing partnership with Haddy is central to the project. Operating out of St. Petersburg, Florida, Haddy runs a microfactory equipped with CEAD Flexbot robotic LFAM systems, AI-assisted platforms with integrated milling capabilities. The company has built a growing track record across sectors: it has produced Unmanned Surface Vessels for maritime firm Blue Ops, fabricated props for Disney theme parks, and brought a line of 3D printed vases to Walmart shelves.
For Eureka, the technology delivered two primary advantages: the ability to realize complex, organic geometries at scale, and compressed development cycles. “Working with Acuity Brands and now featured by Eureka Lighting, these fixtures represent an important milestone for Haddy’s lighting segment and demonstrate how large-format additive manufacturing is creating new opportunities within the lighting industry,” the company noted.

3D Printing Redefines What Commercial Lighting Can Be
Eureka is not alone in recognizing what additive manufacturing can do for lighting. Across the industry, major brands are reaching the same conclusion, that 3D printing opens design and production possibilities that conventional methods cannot match.
This strategy tracks with moves made by other players in the lighting industry. McDonald’s partnered with Philips MyCreation to install custom 3D printed light fixtures across all 38,000 of its global locations, producing unique embossed circular pendants from recyclable materials at nearby facilities to reduce shipping pollution and cut waste compared to traditional methods.
Elsewhere, Urban Scale Interventions (USI) unveiled an immersive lighting and sound installation in Belfast’s historic ‘Entries’ area. Featuring 43 suspended ‘ocean orbs’ made with Ultimaker S5 3D printers and recycled PETG filament from Filamentive, the installation was designed to enhance safety and reflect the site’s history. Initiated by Belfast City Council’s placemaking strategy, the project aimed to create a welcoming space for visitors and became a popular attraction outside Whites Tavern.
Across restaurants, expositions, a theme park, and a supermarket chain, the results are consistent. Specification-grade 3D printed lighting is already operating at scale, across budgets, environments, and continents.
