Digital PlaySpace Acquisition Sees 3D Systems Draw in More Consumers

Even though the pace of acquisition has slowed, one senses it is unlikely ever to stop when it comes to 3D printing company 3D Systems. The company has just announced its latest acquisition, which is totally in line with its latest collaboration, and highlights the company’s focus on drawing consumers into the 3D printing industry by way of interactive toys and popular toy brands. Digital PlaySpace (DPS), is said latest acquisition, it is a proprietary and immersive digital play platform that connects brands, retailers and consumers to 3D printable play activities. Through its two leading digital play properties — DigitalDollhouse.com and the Dreamhouse Designer Facebook app — the DPS platform combines home design, gaming and a community environment to deliver a vivid 3D create-and-make experience for children and their parents. With the invitation to create, capture and customize 3D printables the emphasis in absolutely on easy access and fun 3D printing. The results of the fun can either be printed out at home on a Cube® 3D printer, or via 3DS’ fulfillment service at Cubify.
