A Personal Panther 3D Printer – From the People Behind Portabee

Does a day go by without a new 3D printer announcement?

Doesn’t seem like it.

The latest is the Panther 3D printer, which has been developed over a number of years and launched this week by the team behind the Portabee 3D printer. Touted as a ‘personal 3D printer that takes personal 3D manufacturing to the next level’, the Panther is reportedly precision built for precision output utilising a rigid and durable chassis constructed of aluminium with stainless steel components.

The Panther is retailing just under $1000 in its assembled form at $960 (£630 / €736). It can print in ABS or PLA (of course) and the team provides a nice and simple how-to get going guide in the documentation section for the newbies it is obviously targeting. Full specs are fairly sparse but maximum build volume is quoted as 20cm x 16cm x 16cm. Similarly, minimum layer thickness at an impressive 5 microns.

The Panther team believes it has something unique to offer the space, saying: “Our Panther sets new standards, and we strive to advance the state of 3D printing. We believe it is our duty to help create a cooler future.”

As with all of the 3D printers at this (or similar) spec, only time will tell if longevity is built into the DNA of the printer and the company behind it.
