Tiertime Unveils UP mini 2 3D Printer for CES 2016

Beijing Tiertime Technology Co. will be bringing its highly-praised line of 3D printers to CES this week, but, this time, they’ll be showing off a new 3D printer entirely: the UP mini 2.  Tiertime is billing the UP mini 2 as “the first consumer ready desktop 3D printer in the UP Series that uses touch screen control and WIFI connection.” Aesthetically speaking, the UP mini 2 is definitely consumer-ready.

Though they have not given an exact price, Tiertime says that it will be an affordable machine and, like its predecessor, easy to use.  The mini 2 will improve upon the original mini with improved print quality, 3D printing at layer thicknesses of 150 microns.  On top of that, the touch screen and WiFi connection allow for untethered printing and control from mobile apps.  A built-in HEPA air filtration unit is included to reduce potential toxic emissions.  At 8 kg and external dimensions of 255 x 365 x 385mm, the UP mini 2 has an aluminum handle and separate spool, with built-in toolbox, meant to make it portable and handy. Finally, internal LEDs and a sleek look make this one nice looking printer.

Tiertime CEO Allen Guo said of the new release, “UP mini 2 has the latest features available on 3D printing market, and it has also fine tuned those features to provide the best 3D printing experience. UP mini 2 is a consumer-oriented 3D printer for students at schools, kids at home and 3D printing fans around the world. We have given much thought about intuitive user interfaces to create more consumer friendly 3D printing environment.”

The UP mini 2 will be available for purchase in Q2 of 2016 through the company’s distribution partners.  Given their success in the past, it’s hard not to say that their newest machine won’t be well-received, as well.  I guess they’ll just have to ship us a review unit to find out!
