Certain objects in our lives can be taken for granted or assumed to be limited to particular designs and colours. The showerhead fits into this taken-for-granted category. One of the more interesting impacts of customisable showerheads is colour choice. The hue of whimsy much like the case for a smartphone now gives designers more options outside of white or steel. The announcement touches on the possibility of mood accompanying colours. It is true that colour influences mood: blue is often calming, red and yellow underscore hunger, etc. A bright red might be alarming and help jolt the senses awake with anxiety or seedy arousal. A warm blue could calm the nerves and rise the water bill with prolonged sauna-like showers.
Colour cues aside, what Thingiverse continues to offer is the customisation of what was once stunted by limited individualisation. We will have more and more options and ways for our own art, our inner art to manifest in our every day lives. Showering often is a good thing and now a bit more colourful with 3D printing.
