Following a year of materials, hardware, and design software developments for additive manufacturing, the beginning of 2019 brings a variety of 3D printing events.
Here we highlight some of the forthcoming additive manufacturing conferences and expos, as well as the annual 3D Printing Industry Awards this summer.

The 2019 3D Printing Industry Awards
On the 6th of June, the 3rd edition of the annual 3D Printing Industry Awards will once again bring together and celebrate major figures in additive manufacturing from around the world.
Located at Regent Park’s Nuffield Hall in central London, the awards will continue to recognize businesses and 3D printing experts who have made significant contributions within the industry. Find out more about the winners for 2018 here.
Readers are invited to make nominations within the various categories detailed on our public voting system. The deadline for nominations is March 1st, 2019.
The 3D Printing Electronics Conference, 5th edition
This month, industry professionals, investors, designers, and avid electronics consumers, are encouraged to attend the 5th edition of the 3D Printing Electronics Conference at the High Tech Campus, in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. The one-day event, which takes place on January 22nd, aims to highlight the growing capabilities of functional elections within 3D printed products.
Experts from the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials (IFAM), Nano Dimension, Mitsubishi Engineering Plastics, Institute of Systems and Robotics (ISR), and more will also be sharing their thoughts on the impact and potential applications for 3D printing embedded electronics.
The Connected Manufacturing Leaders Summit
From the 30th-31st of January, the Connected Manufacturing Leaders Summit takes place in Munich. With over 120 smart manufacturing leaders expected to attend, this event will give an insight into how today’s manufacturers are implementing Industry 4.0.
In the same way Enno de Boer, Partner, and Global Leader of Manufacturing at McKinsey & Company, McKinsey has recognized the challenges of pilot purgatory, the Summit will delve into the viable technologies for data management technologies, IoT, and automation for smart factories.
Additionally, representatives from Airbus, Daimler, GKN, Autoliv, and Rolls-Royce, will be giving keynote speeches.
The 3D Medical Conference & Expo
Taking place on the 30th and 31st of January is the 3D Medical Conference & Expo in Maastricht, The Netherlands. Medical and dental professionals, researchers and academics alike are invited to network in an environment embracing the impact of 3D printing in the healthcare sector.
Some of the topics which will be discussed include 3D bioprinting,3D Dental Scanning and Software, Legal and Regulatory issues regarding 3D Medical printing applications, and 3D Food (Medical) Printing.
The BIG IDEAS for UV+EB Technology Conference
Moving on to the month of March, innovators worldwide will gather at the BIG IDEAS for UV+EB Technology Conference from the 19th to the 20th, at the Crowne Plaza in Redondo Beach, California.
As its name states, this event focuses on big ideas involving 3D printing, UV LED technology, automation, as well as data-driven materials processes. The conference also offers the industry a forum to discuss the future of such technologies.
Kyle Baldwin, a Senior Research Chemist at Macdermid, a U.S. Chemical manufacturing company, will commence the conference with an additive manufacturing-themed talk entitled “UV Curable Elastomer Development for High-Performance Dynamic Applications.”
The AMUG Conference 2019
From March 31st to April 4th, the Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG) will meet in Chicago. AMUG is a “must-attend” on the annual calendar and 3D Printing Industry returns again as a Gold sponsor of this unique event. You can read more about the 2018 AMUG Conference here.
