Makerdreams Launches a New Indiegogo Campaign for Their Sexy, Yes Sexy, iNventOne 3D Printer

3D printing start-up MakerDreams just launched a beautiful new plug-and-play 3D printer on crowdfunding site Indiegogo. Created by Italian brothers Luca and Frederico Faggiotto, the iNvent One 3D Printer was designed to be as stylish as it is affordable.

Although calling the iNventOne stylish is a bit of an understatement. While all 3D printers are marvels of design, they don’t always look like they are. But the iNventOne is an impressive looking machine that looks more like a high tech video game system than a 3D printer. Yes, I’m a bit shallow when it comes to tech design; sue me. It’s just a pretty machine.

With no external visible screws, fittings or components, the entire printer is covered in a sleek aluminium hood in either white or black. MakerDreams decided to keep the guts of the machine contained, not just for aesthetic reasons, but to help keep the internal temperature stable and prevent accidental user contact with the printer while it’s working. And the high level of quality and design isn’t just limited to the shell.

Starting with the recyclable aluminium chassis, the entire machine uses stylish, yet high quality parts inside and out. The build platform uses a simplified version of the CoreXY system, and all axes of movement are coupled to a single sheet metal part, so very little calibration will be required. They modified an MK7 extruder by adding an enclosure that will regulate and stabilize the extrusion temperature, preventing cracks and flawed prints caused by thermal variances during printing. They’ve even added some LED lights so you can easily monitor the progress of your print without having to get too close.

The iNventOne has a print volume of 270 mm x 208 mm x 200 mm (10.6 x 8.18 x 7.87 inches), making it larger than the Replicator 2 and the Ultimaker. It will have a print resolution of 100 microns (50 at the Z axis) and while it can use all standard plastic filaments it has been optimized for 1.75 mm PLA. If you decide to support MakerDreams iNventOne Indiegogo campaign the printer can be yours for as little as $999 for the beta model or only $1,100 for the consumer model, although shipping will cost you extra.

Some of the stretch goals include adding a plexiglas observation window on the machine, a USB port and a heated printbed. All stretch goals will be extended to all backers who purchase the printer at $999 and up, so this has the potential to be a huge value. Head on over to Indiegogo and take a look at the full project.
