The 3D printed coffee table is out

 

After the successful launch of SMF 3D printed lamp, the UAU Project team is ready to hit the headlines, amongst their collection comes the 3D printed coffee table aka SMF.02.

The SMF .02 might be the simplest wooden table you’ve ever seen, it’s an assembly of 3D printed connectors and wooden strips. The Self Made Furniture (SMF) runs under the maxim “Inspiring people to become designers“.

“Join parts and you’re all done. No glue, No screw“, We want our designs to be cheap, simple and accessible to all, that’s what the UAU team is all about. STL files could be downloaded from Cults3d.com and only costs $6.76.

The best part is producing it yourself: download the 3D STL files, don’t change the default settings if you’re a law-abiding citizen but if you happen to be an outlaw or want to check which colors suit bests, do play with the settings. On the other hand if you’re too dozy just buy everything from local stores, and that still won’t cost you much.

While in a conversation with  Miłosz Dąbrowski & Justyna Fałdzinska we asked a few questions, Let’s see what they had to say.

3DPI. What was your motivation behind the creation of SMF 0.02 table and the UAU project as a whole?

UAU Project Team. SMF (Self Made Furniture) is a collection of items with which we want to invite people to becomes makers, to use their hands in the design process. We give them only the basic kit and instructions to build their own furniture. It’s very nice to see how the project evolves, for instance there was one guy that got SMF.01 parts from us, but didn’t have access to the wood strip sizes we proposed so he enlarged the lamp parts to fit the strips he had – this is exactly the process we want to inspire.

3DPI. Response or feedback from customers in Poland and around the world. Are people excited about it?

UAU Project Team. It’s a strange thing in Poland, that we produce really a lot of good quality desktop 3D printers, but people still don’t get the idea that they can be used to print something useful, so the response here is maybe not bad, because when people see it they really appreciate it, but let’s say that less than 1% of our customers are from Poland. Around the world it’s much better, people are really excited with our designs and they get the technology.

3DPI. A few sentences about the SMF .02, future updates etc.?

UAU Project Team. SMF.02 is a simple table, and it’s the core of our SMF.02 set. There will be many future updates with additional parts to convert the table to many more objects.

 

The UAU project was founded by two fine art students Justyna Fałdzińska & Miłosz Dąbrowski back in 2011. The projects main aim is to put 3D printed parts for use in home production. Other products under the UAU Project include the 3D printed Endless Candle Holder, NIKE AF1 Custom Box, Spin & Relax, VIKING-the watering can, GROWW- the jar, SMF .01 Lamp, and Cork pals-made out of used wine corks.
