3D Metal Printing Magazine to Launch Next Spring

MecklerMedia, the media company behind the Inside 3D Printing series, has partnered with the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) to launch 3D Metal Printing, a print magazine aimed at designers, engineers, executives, and others in fields that metal 3D printing is expecting to make a big impact, like the aerospace, automotive, tooling, and medical sectors.

pma metal 3D printingThe PMAis a full-service trade association dedicated to what is now a $113-billion industry in North America, with metalforming representing everything from stamping and roll-forming to, now, 3D printing.  With 900 member companies, the PMA is not only strong in membership, but able to produce trade shows, including FABTECH and METALFORM in Mexico, but, also, magazines, such as MetalForming and Fabricating Product News3D Metal Printing is, then, a natural extension for the association, as the technology is increasingly incorporated into mainstream manufacturing.

Andrew Flando, publisher of 3D Metal Printing and vice president of publishing and expositions at PMA, said of the new technology and their latest publication, “The pace of change in this industry is unbelievably rapid. Manufacturers continue to find ways to use 3D metal printing to create complex parts in a way that increases efficiency and allows them to quickly deliver new products to market.” He adds, “Metals are the fastest-growing segment of 3D printing, with printer sales growing by 48 percent and material sales growing by 32 percent in 2014. And, the adoption of 3D metal printing is expected to nearly double by 2018. This new publication will be a critical resource to help designers, engineers and others working in manufacturing stay up to date on the latest 3D metal-printing technology.”

For MecklerMedia, which is invested in 3D printing trade shows, publications, and advertising, the launch of the magazine is an obvious endeavor, too. Alan Meckler, chairman and CEO of MecklerMedia, says “The use of additive-manufacturing services grew by 40 percent in 2014.” He continues, “We know that the use of 3D metal printing to manufacture end-use parts will increase dramatically during the next three years. That’s why we’re excited to partner with PMA to launch this new publication.”

3D Metal Printing magazine should be in print starting April 2016.  By then, the industry will certainly have evolved significantly, giving the magazine plenty to report on.
