VELOX and SK Chemicals present a new range of plastics 3D printable materials

VELOX, a Hamburg-based materials company and Korean partner, SK Chemicals, have released a new range of 3D printing materials.

“We are excited to be working together with our long-term partner, VELOX, in developing the 3D printing industry in Europe,” said Brian Oh, Business Development Team Leader at SK Chemicals.

“We believe that VELOX is the most suitable partner to meet our strategic objective to expand the market share in Europe because they have experience in 3D printing industry as well as technical knowledge on SK Chemicals products.”

The SKYPLETE range of materials

The SKYPLETE range of materials identifies itself as the ‘thermoplastic solution for 3D printing’. SK Chemicals debuted the first range of SKYPLETE materials at the 2017 RAPID + TCT conference in Pittsburgh.

During this conference, SK Chemicals demonstrated the various 3D printing outputs of SKYPLETE, which include airplane propellers, car seat lumbar supports, SD card storage boxes, office supplies, and shoe soles.

Adding to this established portfolio is the EN100. This PLA-based biodegradable material has a heat resistance (HDT) of 100°C, significantly higher than other competitive products on the market. Furthermore, the ES100, a bio-based copolyester material that combines the advantages of PLA and ABS. Its benefits include good layer adhesion, low odour, and FDA approval for food contact.

“The SKYPLETE range is one of the most innovative 3D printing materials,” commented Manuel Delgado, 3D printing Market Manager at VELOX.

“Our portfolio [is] an excellent choice for filament manufacturers looking for enhancement of temperature resistance for easy-to-print materials and the refinement of common compounds to improve impact resistance and engineering performance.”

As SK Chemicals’ chosen European distribution partner, VELOX will specifically target filament producers and compounders seeking specialized 3D printing materials.
