Tango of the minimal surface

During May 2016, Melbourne’s iconic gallery fortyfivedownstairs will host Tango of the minimal surface by artist and designer Sarah Ceravolo. Through the development and integration of different artistic and design approaches in her practice, Ceravolo will showcase a series of objects and jewellery pieces, looking to ideas of production, form and function.

Tango of the Minimal Surface will use the Small Gallery space at fortyfivedownstairs to explore the complexity of form and its realisation via the latest technology. The exhibition will open a new chapter in the realisation of the design of unique and functional objects: 3D printing. It aims to bring liberation from traditional production methods, showcasing myriad possibilities and scope. Even the most rigid of materials, including steel and ceramics, reveal almost infinite flexibility of design. Each object features intricate geometric patterns or sinuous curves; each has its own seemingly dynamic nature.
