Strong Growth as 3D Printer Company EOS closes its 25th Year In Business

It’s been a busy year for industrial 3D printer manufacturer EOS as it celebrates 25 years in business, opening a new 56,000 square foot Technology and Customer center and reaching a new sales high of €177 million ($220 million).

eos_m080_3d printer As of October of this year EOS has installed 1,500 of their industrial additive manufacturing machines worldwide, a 36% increase from last year. That bump in sales has brought EOS to finish the year on a strong note. EOS manufactures a variety of 3D printers for industrial and professional applications, including lines of plastic and metal 3D printers.

The increase in sales has brought with it a jump in the number of employees. Company employment went up by 8%, bringing the company headcount at their eleven global sites up to 540. The company is still in the midst of its growth spurt however and estimates that it will increase that number to around 640 by the end of the current financial year.

And after two years of construction, the new EOS Customer & Technology Center was finally opened at the headquarters site in Krailling, Germany. The 56,000 square foot building is the fourth in-house R&D development facility with room for 300 employees. The center also boasts a high-tech customer center with conference rooms, training facilities, workrooms and laboratories.

The buildings aluminium facade required the excavation of over 100,000 square feet of earth and saw almost 30,000 square feet of concrete poured. EOS says that the building has a focus on sustainability by installing a cooling and heating system that uses ground water and a water-heat pump in combination with waste heat from the in-house 3D printers and high-tech thermal insulation. The facility exceeds Germany’s already stringent energy-saving directives by nearly 30%.
