The professional SLS system is the next iteration to the previously released SnowWhite, with improvements in temperature control and a new software engine. Being aimed primarily at SMEs and research institutions, the machine claims to provide an economical method of professional-grade polymer part production.
Covering all bases with Sharebot
Sharebot’s portfolio is an extensive one, as the Italian manufacturer has already launched machines for three different 3D printing technologies. The company’s basic FDM printer, the Sharebot Q, features a print volume of 400 x 300 x 300mm. It has a 5” color touchscreen and is compatible with nylon-carbon, nylon-glass, and wood.
Customers also have the option of resin 3D printing with the Sharebot Viking, an LCD machine suitable for jewelry and mold making. It has a 190 x 120 x 200mm print volume and comes complete with an ultrasonic resin cleaner.
The company has even delved into metal 3D printing in the past with the Sharebot MetalOne, a metal laser sintering machine built for research and development purposes. Featured is a print volume of 65 x 65 x 100mm and a 250W fiber laser.
The SnowWhite 2
With a 1500 x 600 x 520mm body frame, the SnowWhite 2 is about the size of a garage freezer (and kind of looks like one). Its 14W CO2 laser has a spot diameter of 0.2mm and is compatible with a wide range of polymer powders such as PA, TPU, and ABS. The machine can also work with select specially loaded powders with additives such as glass, carbon, and aluminum.
Sharebot has put an emphasis on ease-of-usability with this system, as the initial setup apparently only takes ten minutes. Once the desired material profile is defined, users can “print in one click” with powder weights as low as 300g. According to Sharebot, all of the unused powder left behind after a print can be directly recycled in the next run.
Perhaps one of key selling points of the SnowWhite is its ability to integrate with an external inert gas distribution module. The similarly-sized add-on carefully controls the atmosphere inside the print chamber with the help of oxygen presence sensors, ensuring parts do not yellow as a result of unintended oxidation. Interestingly, Sharebot has given the ‘complete package’ its own name – the Sharebot Nitro.
