It’s not a Ribbon Cutting Party until the Purple Platypus Shows Up

When drone manufacturer Monarch Inc. cuts the ribbon on its new California headquarters the company will be joined by Stratasys reseller Purple Platypus who helped them install new 3D printing technology in the facility.

monarch_front 3d printing Monarch Inc. recently announced that it was moving its production facility and at the same time announced a name change from CalUAS to the friendlier iconic butterfly. The company made the change in order to soften its image and disassociate itself from the more sinister drones that are used by the military. Monarch drones are smaller and generally have surveying and agricultural applications. They also don’t rain fiery death down on the unsuspecting, so it is reasonable for them to not want to be a part of.

The new facility in Ridgecrest, California will feature several advanced Stratasys 3D printers for use in rapid prototyping and small scale manufacturing. The new Fortus 400 and Roland MDX-540A 3D printers were sold to Monarch by Orange County 3D printer reseller Purple Platypus. In addition to being a reseller for Stratasys 3D printers, Purple Platypus also sells Roland milling machines and 3D prototyping and modelling software SpaceClaim.

In order to support its new neighbour and friend, Purple Platypus will be joining Monarch Inc. on November 25, 2014 for the official ribbon cutting ceremony at the new facility that they helped stock with advanced additive manufacturing technology. They will also be showing off examples of their milled and 3D printed parts, as well as demonstrating the technology for other attendees, which is expected to include many city and state officials as well as other business leaders.
