Replique expands global manufacturing partnership with Alstom

Replique, a Mannheim-based production platform for industrial components founded in 2023 as an independent company by former BASF employees, has expanded its global manufacturing partnership with Alstom, becoming a worldwide supplier for multiple projects and subsidiaries across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and South America. Announced on January 13, 2026, the expanded collaboration builds on initial component projects and now supports Alstom operations in countries including Singapore, Brazil, Australia, France, Italy, Germany, Thailand, and Spain.

Under the partnership, Replique provides Alstom with access to a single manufacturing partner covering a broad range of production technologies. These include 3D printing, CNC machining, casting, forging, and other processes. According to the company, each component is evaluated individually to determine the most cost-effective and technically suitable production method.

Single partner approach spans multiple manufacturing technologies

Replique also manages end-to-end workflows when required, including design, qualification, production, post-processing, quality assurance, and delivery. A single audit enables Alstom to access Replique’s global network of more than 350 qualified suppliers, with critical components also qualified on-site when necessary.

The company reports that it has already produced parts for Alstom in the lower five-digit volume range. Manufactured from materials such as stainless steel and flame-retardant plastics, these components are currently in daily use across railway operations and meet Alstom’s testing and qualification requirements.

“We are proud to provide Alstom with global solutions that make their parts supply more efficient and flexible,” said Dr. Max Siebert, CEO and Co-Founder of Replique. “Our components are used in series production, and each project highlights the diverse challenges of parts procurement while motivating us in our vision of a globally connected, sustainable, and efficient supply chain.”

Several examples highlight the scope of the collaboration. In Asia, Replique produced a replacement impeller for a metro cooling unit after the original supplier offered only a full system replacement. Replique manufactured the single component using metal 3D printing and completed balancing, precision milling, and corrosion-resistant coating, enabling a faster return to service.

In Italy, the company supplied cast intercoolers to restore a train from the 1960s after the original supplier was no longer available. Production was enabled using 3D printed casting molds, securing long-term spare part availability for the legacy platform.

Replique is also supplying branding plates for new series of Alstom trains worldwide. According to Lorenzo Gasparoni, Alstom’s 3D Printing Program Manager, Replique ensured consistent quality across global production and completed the full series approval process, including First Article Inspection and First Article Mount.

From series production ambitions to global manufacturing scale

Replique and Alstom have been working together since at least 2022, when the companies outlined plans to support rolling stock series production using 3D printing technology. At the time, the collaboration focused on moving additive manufacturing beyond prototyping toward qualified, repeatable production parts for rail applications.

Separately, Replique has been scaling its additive manufacturing capabilities in recent years. In 2023, the company reported an extended funding round aimed at expanding its production network and strengthening its platform to support industrial customers with series production and digital spare parts strategies.
