Puget Technologies Gets High on 3D Printing, Announces New App and 3D Printing Division

Fort Lauderdale Florida investment firm Puget Technologies, until this point known for energy drinks and medical marijuana research, is betting on 3D printing in a big way. And they’re not just getting their feet wet either, Puget Technologies has made it known that they are buying in big.

President and CEO Ron Leyland said, “There is no more exciting business to pursue right now than 3D printing. During the next several years, 3D printers and their associated products will literally change the world around us.” He added, “In the not too distant future, instead of shipping a physical item, retailers will simply transfer ‘blueprints’ straight to our 3D printers, resulting in instant delivery of an almost endless number of goods.”

Not only has the company launched a new website and announced an entirely new 3D printing division with deep pockets and plans to buy up existing companies, but Puget Technologies has also announced a new 3D printer, 3D printing App and 3D printing software bundle. The SnapSearch app will be available for all smart phones and it will allow a user to take pictures of objects or UPC codes to scan Puget Technologies’ database for 3D printing source files. Users can then download and print using their new PrintSnaptic 3D printing software suite and their My3DP 3D printer. The My3DP printer is a fused filament fabricator that claims to use “less energy to operate than conventional 3D printers” and will be able to print the company’s proprietary Eco-Fil filament cartridges, which can be recycled, along with scrapped prints, at participating retailers.

It looks like the 3D Printing Industry may have itself a new big player joining the game. Only time will tell if Stratasys and 3D Systems need to be worried.
