Office Depot to Sell 3D Systems 3D Printers Across 150 Locations

Office Depot, one of the largest office supply chains in the US has announced that this month they will begin expanding their 3D Systems Cube 3D printing experience to 150 Office Depot stores nationwide.

Last August, Office Depot dipped its toe in the 3D printed water by offering 3D Systems Cube and CubeX platforms for sale from its online store. This was followed a month later by adding an in-store 3D printing experience pilot program at a single Denver location. Not only were Denver residents able to purchase a 3D printer in store, but they were encouraged to come in and experience live demos. Visitors were encouraged to ask questions about 3D printing and to watch samples be printed right in front of them. Positive customer feedback is cited as a primary factor in the expansion of its 3D printing program into more stores this month.

“We received an overwhelming response from our initial pilot program in Denver,” said George Hill, Office Depot’s Senior Vice President of Copy and Print Depot. “Customers ranging from tech buffs and entrepreneurs to marketers, educators and stay-at-home parents commented on how they would utilize 3D printing in their lives. With that insight, we knew we needed to expand the scope and offer these demonstrations to markets across the country.”

Office Depot is a nationwide office supply and technology retailer with over 1,100 locations. Their aggressive move into adding 3D printers to their physical stores is clearly a huge vote of confidence for the viability of 3D printing. By featuring 3D printers alongside other essential office equipment, Office Depot is allowing businesses all over the country to imagine what bringing a 3D printer into the office could do for their business. The Cube 3D and CubeX 3D printers are available at Office Depot for $1,299 and $2,499, respectively.
