NAMII Launched Official Website

NAMII, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, inaugurated on August 16, 2012, and driven by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM), announced yesterday the launch of its official Web site at

“Today, we are excited to unveil NAMII’s Web site at,” said Ralph Resnick, NCDMM President and Executive Director and Acting Director for NAMII. “Establishing our Web presence in less than a month’s time from award is just one of the many steps to quickly follow as NAMII transitions into full operations mode. The Web site plays a prominent role in enabling NAMII to provide a highly collaborative infrastructure for the open exchange of additive manufacturing information, research, technology, projects, news, events and much more.

“Once NAMII is ready to call for project proposals, the Web site will serve as the portal for all project-based functions,” continued Resnick. “We invite you to explore and subscribe for updates.”

NAMII is a public-private partnership with member organizations from industry, academia, government and workforce development resources all collaborating with a singular, shared vision to transition additive manufacturing technology to the mainstream U.S. manufacturing sector. As the pilot institute for the newly established National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI), NAMII is the first of up to 15 NNMI institutes and is based in Youngstown, Ohio. NAMII is managed by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM).

The NCDMM delivers optimized manufacturing solutions that enhance the quality, affordability, maintainability, and rapid deployment of existing and yet-to-be developed defense systems. This is accomplished through collaboration with government, industry, and academic organizations to promote the implementation of best practices to key stakeholders through the development and delivery of disciplined training, advanced technologies, and methodologies.
