Israeli startup Seebo integrates with Autodesk Forge platform

Seebo® is proud to announce integration between the Autodesk Forge platform and the Seebo platform, to transform 3D product designs into smart, connected products. This integration follows the strategic investment by Autodesk (NASDAQ:ADSK) in Seebo’s Software as a Service (SaaS) platform. With this integration, Seebo’s customers are now able to build smart products on its platform using a 3D product design interface. Additionally, Autodesk users designing 3D models on the Autodesk Forge platform can now add smart functionality for IoT enablement using the Seebo platform. Co-founder of the company, Lior Akavia, comments on the integration:

“We’re very excited about the integration between Autodesk Forge and Seebo, which will provide Autodesk customers with access to some of the most cutting-edge IoT development tools available. The joint platform allows manufacturers to tap into the world of IoT efficiently and cost-effectively.”

Seebo’s technology intuitively connects Autodesk design apps like Fusion 360 and enables users to drag and drop components (such as connectivity, motion and location features, etc.) into a product design framework, to transform simple products into smart products.

Forge is a connected developer platform that powers the future of making things. Previously branded as Autodesk’s Spark software, it takes components from Autodesk’s powerful library of software and delivers them as cloud-based building blocks.

With the integration between Autodesk Forge and the Seebo platform, 3D models can now be directly uploaded into Seebo’s IoT Creator where the foundations of the product’s functional design are created. With the ability to upload 3D models from Autodesk Forge into the Seebo IoT Creator, users can assign smart behaviors or features directly onto a 3D model and map where the smart behaviors will be applied to the final product. This enables direct integration between the Seebo platform and the Autodesk Forge platform, giving Seebo users precise, user-friendly design tools when planning and ideating smart products.

This integration makes the design process intuitive and fluid, enabling product designers to decide exactly where smart behaviors or features are placed on the 3D model in the early planning stage of the smart product. The accurate location of sensors and smart behaviors on the product results in an efficient smart product going to market, improving the end-user experience. During the smart product lifecycle, all the players in the creation of the product, from product designer, to hardware, software and firmware developer, right through to the manufacturer, will have access to an accurate and precise 3D map of the smart product design. By seamlessly integrating the Autodesk Forge Viewer API into Seebo’s platform, users can manipulate the working model in a 360-degree environment so that smart product planning takes shape quickly and easily, offering a fun user interface.

Product developers who design products using 3D models on the Autodesk Forge platform, can now simply upload 3D models — from a local file or from the Autodesk hub cloud repository — onto the Seebo IoT Creator and continue designing the technological features of their product in the smart product environment. With the ability to continue planning the smart product on an existing 3D model, this integration paves the way for product developers to design and develop smart products quickly and access cost-effective building tools. Once smart product design has been completed on the platform, Seebo’s IoT Marketplace seamlessly connects users with the resources and skills to develop and integrate the smart device, providing product developers with cost-effective resources to complete development and integration of the smart device.

The ability to plan, build and integrate smart products using one comprehensive IoT platform dramatically decreases development costs, reduces costs per unit and streamlines the smart product development process. It enables all users, from small startups to enterprise customers, to easily and reliably build high quality smart products and take them to market quickly.
