Fuel3D wins CES Best of Innovation Award

There’s no denying it, CES — the Consumer Electronics Show hosted in Las Vegas every year by the CEA — is just around the corner. And yes, I am STILL wondering what happened to 2014. Ahead of one of the most highly anticipated consumer shows, where 3D printing and 3D scanning is gaining in popularity year on year, the CEA has revealed its 2015 CES Best of Innovation Awards.

Among those honored is Fuel3D, a developer of 3D scanning solutions, awarded in the 3D Printing & Additive Manufacturing category for its flagship 3D scanner product.

Products entered in the CES Innovation Awards are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 28 product categories.

Products chosen as CES Best of Innovation Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services coming to market.

Commenting on the award, Stuart Mead, CEO of Fuel3D, said: “As a first time exhibitor at CES, we are delighted to have had our 3D scanner recognized as the best product in its category. It’s a great feeling when a prestigious group like the CES panel shares our enthusiasm and vision for making high-resolution 3D scanning faster and more affordable.”

As you have likely gathered, and rather obviously, companies have to be exhibiting at the show to receive an award!

Fuel3D will be showing its scanner at the 2015 International CES, which runs Jan. 6-9, 2015, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The commercial launch of the scanner, which has been in development since 2012 is expected soon after. The scanner is currently in beta-testing with the company’s Kickstarter backers, one of which is Joshua Harker, and one of his models (available on Sketchfab) is shown below.
