Formlabs' Euro Push Continues with iGo3D's Michael Sorkin

After establishing its European HQ in Germany and closing distribution partnerships in UK, France, and Italy, Formlabs continues to consolidate its European structure by appointing iGo3D‘s co-founder Michael Sorkin as its EU Lead.

Maxim Lobovsky, Co-Founder of Formlabs, confirmed the importance of the European market and welcomed Sorkin to the team. “We’re excited to have Michael Sorkin join our team,” he said, adding that: “Michael built iGo3D, one of the most important distribution channels for desktop 3D printing in Europe, he will use this experience do the same leading our efforts in Europe where we have experienced substantial growth in the past year.

Sorkin co-founded iGo3D in 2013 and contributed to build it into a 50-person strong company. Its distributive structure, based on both commercial partnerships and actual 3D print stores, boasts some of the most complete offer of 3D printing products around and has already expanded beyond Germany, to serve the Netherlands, Poland and Russia.

This experience, along with Sorkin’s role as member of the advisory board for The 3D Printing Association, will now come in handy at Formlabs where he is tasked with capitalizing on the company’s momentum in Euro adoption of its award winning Form1+ SLA 3D printer.

I am honored to lead Formlabs’ European operations,” said Sorkin, welcoming the challenges ahead. “iGo3D is a growing business in excellent hands. Today, I look forward to help Formlabs expand their European presence and provide excellent customer experience in Europe. It is a privilege to be part of an ambitious organization that is building some of the best products in the market.

When Sorkin was jotting down the business plan for iGo3D back in 2012, he did not expect that the 3D print shop would be so successful; he certainly could not have foreseen becoming the EU Lead of one of the hottest 3D printing companies around. This proves that the experience one gains when entering the 3D printing arena could prove as valuable as profits and revenues in the long run.
