Cleaning and surface finishing systems manufacturer DyeMansion has acquired fellow Munich company ASM, adding ASM’s VX1 vapor smoothing system to its Print-to-Product workflow. The deal expands DyeMansion’s portfolio to span entry-level, mid-range, and industrial-scale surface finishing solutions.
The acquisition follows a successful global sales partnership announced in 2024 and strengthens DyeMansion’s position in the vapor smoothing market, the largest segment of additive manufacturing post-processing. With the VX1 joining DyeMansion’s Powerfuse S Manual and Powerfuse S Automatic systems, the company now offers the most comprehensive range of vapor smoothing equipment for polymer parts.
“The 3D printing industry needs strong players that can sustainably consolidate the market and lead it into the next phase,” said Felix Ewald, CEO and Co-Founder of DyeMansion. “With the acquisition of ASM, we are sending a clear signal to the market and our partners.”

Expanding access to vapor smoothing
Founded in 2021, ASM developed the VX1 system as a compact, plug-and-play solution for service providers, corporate R&D teams, and small-scale production environments. The system uses a green, reusable solvent that is non-toxic, PFAS-free, and free of CMR or vPvM/PMT substances, aligning with DyeMansion’s sustainability principles.
The VX1 has already been adopted by over 50 customers worldwide, including Formrise and Goodsleep, and supports common 3D printing materials such as PA12, PA11, and TPU.
“With its strong market position and global sales network, DyeMansion is the ideal home for our technology,” said Philipp Ziegler, Co-Founder of ASM and now Global Product & Market Manager VX1 at DyeMansion. “Together, we can bring our entry-level vapor smoothing solution to a much broader market.”

DyeMansion at Formnext 2025
Visitors to Formnext 2025 (November 18–21, Frankfurt) will be able to see the VX1 in operation alongside DyeMansion’s latest innovations under the theme “More DyeMansion – more efficient.”
Founded in 2015, DyeMansion has become the world’s leading provider of polymer 3D printing post-processing systems, covering cleaning, surface finishing, and coloring. The company serves more than 500 customers and has over 1,300 machines installed in 50 countries.
Consolidation and growth in post-processing and vapor smoothing
DyeMansion’s acquisition of ASM comes amid broader expansion within the additive manufacturing post-processing sector. Earlier this year, AMT expanded its post-processing footprint through a partnership with Prototal Industries, extending its reach across Europe. In North America, SurfacePrep was appointed as AMT’s distributor for the PostPro vapor smoothing range, strengthening the company’s service network in the region.
Meanwhile, material specialist CRP Technology advanced its Windform composite materials with a proprietary vapor smoothing process designed to enhance surface finish and mechanical performance. In other news, DyeMansion reported growing adoption of its Powerfuse S technology, reflecting rising demand for scalable and sustainable surface finishing in polymer additive manufacturing.
