CurifyLabs, a company developing 3D printing technology for compounded medications, has launched its newest 3D compounding printer, the PharmaPrinter Aurum, designed to accelerate and modernize personalized medication production.
Combining faster throughput, user-friendly operation, and integrated quality control, the Aurum aims to transform pharmacy workflows while maintaining precision and scalability for high-volume compounding.

Faster, Smarter, and More Efficient Compounding
The PharmaPrinter Aurum offers significant improvements in speed and workflow efficiency, allowing compounding to be completed up to nine times faster than manual methods. The system is ready to deploy immediately and supports a smooth, end-to-end process from prescription to final dosage form, helping pharmacies increase throughput from day one.
Designed with usability in mind, the printer features a large high-resolution touchscreen and a simplified interface. The quick-lock syringe mounting system enables faster setup and smoother daily operation, reducing manual handling and potential errors.
Despite its space-efficient design, the PharmaPrinter Aurum supports high-volume production and flexible handling of multiple dosage forms—including troches, films, gel tablets, suppositories, and capsules—across various packaging formats such as blisters, vials, and molds.
Integrated quality control features, including a built-in scale with clear visibility, ensure precise, traceable dosing while simplifying maintenance, cleaning, and calibration. The intuitive software also incorporates cybersecurity measures to protect data and maintain system integrity.
Recognizing that pharmacies have varying workflows and capacity needs, CurifyLabs will continue supporting the existing PharmaPrinter 01 while expanding its product family with the Aurum, offering more flexibility for different compounding environments.
3D Printing in Personalized Medicine
The CurifyLabs PharmaPrinter Aurum highlights how 3D printing is reshaping personalized medicine by enabling pharmacies to produce patient-specific therapies on demand. Unlike traditional batch compounding, additive manufacturing allows precise control over dosage, formulation, and delivery form.
An example of this trend is UK-based biotech company FabRx, which is exploring 3D printing for the automation of capsule filling in community pharmacies. Their 2025 study seeks to address the inefficiencies and potential for human error in manual compounding. Using semi-solid extrusion (SSE) technology, FabRx’s 3D printers provide more accurate dosing and greater consistency.
Elsewhere, researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics and the University of California, Davis, have developed a 3D printing process to create pills in specific shapes to control drug release rates. This technology offers new possibilities for more precise drug delivery, providing significant advantages over traditional methods.
