With input from a customer, Nervous System has created its first diamond engagement ring. The new ring marks the first time Nervous System has incorporated stones into their designs. The final result is a wonderfully baroque-like design with the diamond and accompanying rubies
In order to accommodate the new design, Nervous System had to make adjustments to its Cell Cycle app, its in-house software that offers customers the opportunity to customize their jewellery. The new design comes with a special presentation box in solid cherry wood with a gold-plated steel lid. The varnished finish and ornate plate reflect the design apparatus required to create and hold the engagement ring. Nervous System adjusted their Cell Cycle app to handle the round circles into the organic structure already in place. In addition to the gems, the structure changed to the appropriate depth and width for the diamond.
As the venture proves, forms and designs no longer adhere to rigid structural intent. With the aid of an avid customer, Nervous System kept true to their style and adjusted to a consumer demand. The design underscores the ideal relationship between provider and customer as one of interaction and dialogue, not merely an exchange of money for goods and services. Even though the interaction took place online, there is a personal touch, an availability found in 3D printing that must remain for the industry to maintain its uniqueness.
