Additive manufacturing hubs established in the U.S. and China

Metal additive manufacturing company Sintavia has opened a 55,000 square foot advanced manufacturing facility, located in Hollywood, Florida. This new plant will also act as the company’s headquarters.

150 customers and industry partners were in attendance at the grand opening of this facility on May 9th. This included Sumitomo Corporation, an internationally renowned trader of goods and services, and a growth equity investment partner of Sintavia.

According to Sintavia, this site houses over $25 million of advanced manufacturing equipment including medium and large scale metal printers. As such, it is capable of producing tens of thousands of parts representing in excess of $100 million of AM revenue annually. Brian Neff, Chairman and CEO at Sintavia, said:

“This new facility is the first of its kind in North America to offer large-scale AM production coupled with a robust aerospace quality management system. As we grow, it will serve as a template for future vertically-aligned advanced manufacturing facilities around the U.S. and the world.”

Approximately 130 new jobs for skilled employees and support staff are anticipated as a result of this new facility.

Similarly German 3D printer manufacturer Voxeljet has established a 78,000 square foot facility in Suzhou, China, which will have more than 400 tons of annual 3D printing capacity. This new additive manufacturing hub comes two years after the company opened its Weijie China in 2017.
