3D Printed Ship in a Bottle

This weekend’s video feature is an interesting design by Objet using their Connex multi-material 3D printer. The “Ship in a Bottle” is a solid bottle which is 3D printed using Objet’s clear transparent material and the sailing ship is created with black rubber like material, both of which are bound together.

The object is printed in 30 micron layers and allows to you to clearly see the intricate details of the ship, including the rigging between the masts and the deck as well as the crow’s nests and flagpoles. No doubt the next challenge will be creating a ship in a hollow bottle.
