Formnext 2016 opens tomorrow in Frankfurt, but already news is flowing from one of the main events on the 3D printing calendar. Here is a brief round-up of what we know so far.
3D Printing Electronics
Nano Dimension will be showing how to, “print metals and polymers simultaneously.”
Formnext attendees can, “visit Nano Dimension booth, Hall 3.1, Stand B60F at formnext 2016 in Frankfurt, November 15 – 18. Visitors will be able to see the DragonFly 2020 3D Printer, which is the world’s first 3D printer designed specifically for the production of professional multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs) and 3D circuitry for rapid prototyping.”
3D Metal Printing
Sweden’s Arcam will, “for the first time at Formnext have an EBM system on the show floor.” The company will also be demonstrating their, “CoCr process for Arcam Q10plus.” As the company explain, “CoCr is, together with titanium, the prime material for the orthopedic industry and it is also a commonly used material in the aerospace industry. The CoCr process provides parts with high resolution, production level productivity and impeccable material properties. The process is supported by an animal study by Gothenburg University, showing bone interaction with CoCr.” Arcam subsidiary AP&C are also in attendance together with several other companies hoping to benefit from metal powder production.

Builder Extreme launch
On Tuesday, Builder Extreme, “will launch the Builder Extreme 1500. The Extreme 1500 is an industrial FDM 3D printer and has a huge build volume of 1100x500x820 mm. The Extreme 1500 comes with an integrated heated bed, Wi-Fi, on-board camera and Dual-Feed extruder. Despite the large build volume, the Extreme 1500 fits through every door and is easy to move around due to the wheel system. The Extreme 1500 even fits in an elevator.”
Roland Launch Ceramic 3D printer
Roland DG Corporation who make, “wide-format inkjet printers and desktop fabrication devices” have announced they will, “showcase the potential of its new ceramic 3D printing technology using alumina powder.” 3D printing with ceramics is a multi-stage process and requires several machines, including the ceramic printer on display here, we will bring you more on this news soon.
LPW Technology Ltd. and 3DSIM
LPW Technology Ltd, a metal powder supplier and 3DSIM, a software company, will be announcing new products at Formnext. According to a press release they will be, “unveiling our newly released simulation tools, exaSIMTM and FLEXTM.”
AM meets aerospace
As we reported earlier, 3D printing is at the cutting edge of the aerospace industry and helping to advance extraterrestrial travel. Airbus Safran Launchers will be joined by Swiss Technology Company RUAG and Laser Zentrum Nord (LZN) in a special area in hall 4.1 to, “present their expertise and latest applications.”
