Zero Zero Robotics hover camera tracks you with 3D scans

Zero Zero Robotics recently announced that they have successfully raised $25 million in total funding from prominent investors, and unveiled their first product – Hover Camera.

About Zero Zero Robotics

Co-founded in 2014 by former Twitter software engineer and Stanford PHD, MQ Wang, and Stanford PHD Tony Zhang, Zero Zero Robotics is a forward-thinking robotics company pioneering the future of smart flying consumer robotics that empower people to enhance their lives.

The Beijing tech startup’s drone is the first truly consumer-friendly autonomous flying camera designed to be safe, portable and let anyone effortlessly capture exciting moments indoors and out, from unique perspectives. Using Embedded AI to intelligently navigate its environment and the Qualcomm Snapdragon Flight drone platform, Hover Camera is controlled via a mobile app, and can be calibrated very easily to track subjects automatically using 3D scanning technology.

The Hover Camera uses self-positioning to float steadily in place like an “invisible tripod”, regardless of windy conditions, and in-built image stabilization combats accidental camera movement.

When it is folded up, the Hover Camera is the size of a VHS tape (how retro), and the whole thing only weighs 238 grams. To get it running, you press a button, unfold it, and let it go. Or throw it in the air. It’s that simple, anyone can use it, which is kind of the idea the company is going for. The carbon-fiber framework allows the drone to be lightweight while also protecting the propellers keeping it in the air.

“We want to combine radical AI technology and small flying robotics to create products that empower people to enhance their livelihood, and Hover Camera is a very exciting first step towards accomplishing our larger mission. We’re excited that this round of funding will allow us to introduce the public to Hover Camera, push the boundaries of what’s possible, and reimagine the future of what truly autonomous flying devices can be,” said the company’s CEO Meng Qiu Wang.

With the Hover Camera as their first product, I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
