YouMagine Crowns a Winner in its Useful 3D Prints Contest

The winner of December’s YouMagine Useful 3D Prints Contest submitted a simple design that turns an old two-liter soda bottle into a bird feeder. The winning design, as well as dozens of other contest entries, is available for download on YouMagine for free.

The winning Bird Food Dispenser design was submitted by young YouMagine community member Martijn de Winter. As the winner of the contest, he will receive a Colorfabb Value Pack that includes 16 rolls of PLA filament. The value pack is valued at $575 and can be filled with any of the standard PLA filament colors offered by the 3D printing materials developer.

The winning design was selected by the YouMagine staff, which was impressed with de Winter’s submission based on its obvious usefulness and the upcycling of the soda bottle.

de Winter included several screen shots of the 3D model in Cura, his printing settings, and several pictures of the feeder from multiple angles. He also submitted a video of how to assemble and fill the feeder; however, those that don’t speak Dutch will need to turn on subtitles:

Recently YouMagine has been putting a lot of effort into improving their website and 3D model marketplace in order to set themselves apart from their competition. In addition to improving the website UI and search functions, including high quality photography and clear printing and assembly instructions for prints.

Congrats Martijn, make sure you print something cool with all of that filament!
