Threeding 3D Printables Marketplace Launches Amazon Fire App

As the world awaited the Amazon Fire Phone, so too waited online 3D printables marketplace Threeding, who, upon the Fire’s release, had a release of their own. Modifying the Threeding Android app, the company designed Threeding specifically for the Fire Phone, so that customers could download items from the Bulgarian printables site from their phones.

As with the Android app, Threeding for Fire limits users to viewing, sharing, and downloading or purchasing 3D models, leaving users to upload their files from a computer. The company explains that full functionality will come shortly and that their mobile apps will give them a head start as smartphones and tablets become integrated into the 3D printing process.

That’s why we have our app available on the day the phone was released.” Philip Philipov, also a co-founder, designed the original Android app and the Fire modification with his team at Whiz.bg. Philipov adds, “I am glad that we managed to react quickly and on the day of Fire Phone release we can offer Threeding App at Amazon Appstore.” Next Threeding hopes to release its app for iOS.

The company’s announcement raises interesting prospects about the future of 3D printing. As the technology makes its way into the mainstream, as indicated by the recent addition of the Amazon 3D printing product page, tablets and mobile devices will have to become better equipped to handle 3D printing. In that way, Threeding has made a smart move in showing readiness in the evolving industry.
